After being in Italy for a few days I've started to notice something.. Italians eat a lot of food! Italian food is very delicious, however, their meals are different because they eat smaller portions and more of them. Americans eat larger portions less times a day. A typical day in Italy could include breakfast: coffee and a croissant, lunch: pizza, pasta or sandwich, and then dinner: antipasti- appetizer, ll primo-first course, ll secondo- second course, ll contorno -side dish, and then ll dolce- or dessert. You also can't forget about your afternoon snack of gelato!
You would think after eating all this food everyday Italians would be unhealthy, but in actuality they are healthy because they walk everywhere! In America we rely on our cars to take us everywhere, but in Italy people walk or take trains or vespas to get around!

Here is a link to a bruschetta recipe. Bruschetta is a very popular appetizer in Italy.
