Hello my name is Sydney Velia and I am so excited to travel to Italy! I am an Elementary Education major, and hope to teach fourth grade! I am from Moore, Oklahoma and a Junior at OU! I am excited to learn about Italian culture, and see how other countries and cultures run their classrooms. I hope to gain knowledge about different types of classroom management, and how to use technology in the classroom in a positive interactive way. I have travled to Canada before, but this will be my first time outside of North America! I am so excited to start this adventure and get to know everyone!

Hi my name is Kelly Merlino. I am a junior at the University of Oklahoma. I am a Early Childhood Education major. I plan to teach kindergarten in the future. I am from Dallas, Texas. I currently live in Norman, Oklahoma. I am super excited about this summer. I am looking forward to exploring Italy. I am going to Italy to learn about a new culture and see how education is valued in their daily lives. I hope to learn and see how Italian teachers manage their classroom. I also want to learn about technology in their classroom setting. I am looking forward to stepping into a classroom setting in a different country, because I feel that they will be extremely different and new to me. I like change so seeing the classroom from a new perspective excites me. I am also looking forward to meeting new people on the trip and in Italy. It will be a trip of a life time! I am counting down the days till we are finally in Arezzo! Only 16 more days!!

Christina's Introduction

Hey guys!

My name is Christina, and I'm a math education major. I'm super excited to be going to Arezzo with all of you guys, and I think it's going to be a time filled with lots of fun and great experiences. I grew up in Pennsylvania, but I've lived in Norman for the past 7 years (I started high school here). I've traveled to Europe in the past when I went to Paris, France in 2012 with my high school French teacher and a group of students. It was probably the greatest experience of my life, so I'm so excited to get back to Europe!

What is this Blog?

This blog will be a group blog by the students in the Jeannine Rainbolt College of Education to blog from our travels in Arezzo Italy.

This blog will follow the traditional of Flat Stanley and students will be using Flat Stanley and Flat Boren to explain their travels to students around the world.  We plan to interact with several elementary classrooms.  If you would like to follow us, please feel free to comment or tweet to @DrTerriOU.
